Resend events and rerun jobs in bulk
Resend up to 100,000 events or rerun jobs in one go from the Control Panel, and follow each request on the Resends & reruns page.
You can resend failed events, or rerun jobs, in one go from the Control Panel, up to 100,000 at a time. Each request is tracked on the Resends & reruns page, where you can follow its progress and open the new events it created. Resend (for events) and Rerun (for jobs) replace the older Replicate action.
When to use this
Use this when a batch of events or jobs failed and the cause has since been fixed, for example a destination that was briefly unavailable, or a mapping that HC has corrected. To correct one event's data before sending it again, see How to fix and resend a failed event instead.
Before you start
Fix the cause first. A resend sends each event's original data through its stream again, using the stream as it is now, so an unfixed problem fails the same way.
You can resend up to 100,000 events at a time. Only one request of 100 or more can run per organisation at a time.
Decide whether you need Delete Entity. HC keeps an entity for each record it has sent, so that the same record is not sent twice. If the original event created one, its resend can be aborted as a duplicate. Delete Entity deletes each event's entity just before it is resent, so the resent event is not aborted. A deleted entity is not restored if the resend then fails. Use it only when you know the original record did not reach the destination.
Steps
Resend events
In the left menu, under Reporting, click Events.
Click the filter icon at the top right of the list and filter the events you need, for example by stream, status and created date.
Tick the events to resend, or use the checkbox menu at the top left of the list and choose Select all.
Open Actions and choose Resend events.
In the Resend events window, tick Delete Entity if you need it, then click Resend.
Rerun jobs
In the left menu, under Reporting, click Jobs.
Filter the list and select the jobs to rerun.
Open Actions and choose Rerun jobs.
Confirm in the window that opens.
To rerun a single job with edits, open the job and click Rerun; see The Jobs page.
Track the request
After you submit, the Control Panel opens the request's page. You can find every request later under Reporting > Resends & reruns.
Status moves from Queued to Completed, and Progress shows how many items have been handled, for example 6 / 6.
Resent events by status shows how the new events are doing, and Hand-off progress shows how many have been sent.
The Items list shows each original event next to its resent event, the outcome, whether its entity was deleted, and the number of attempts.
Next to Resent events, click View to open the new events in the Events list.
The Resends & reruns page is also where you can cancel a request and pick up anything in it that failed.
What you should see
New events in the Events list, one for each event you resent, with a tick in the Is resend? column. Once they have processed, their status is Ok. On the original events, Latest resend status shows the result of the most recent resend. See Understanding event statuses for what each status means.
If it did not work
The resent events were aborted. Their entities still exist, so HC treated them as duplicates. If you know the records did not reach the destination, resend them again with Delete Entity ticked.
The resent events failed with the same error. The cause has not been fixed yet. See Correcting a mapping or field value, or contact HC.
The request stays Queued. Only one request of 100 or more can run per organisation at a time. Check Resends & reruns for another request that is still running.
You need to resend more than 100,000 events. Split them into smaller requests, for example by date range, and submit them one after another.
If none of these help, contact HC through How to get support.
